" Well Adrian among the green shoots an economic recovery and jobs are one of the last to sprout. Despite recent signs of strength in the economy this week's August employment report is likely to show further weakness. Senior economist mark victory at Wells Fargo gave his projections in an interview with MarketWatch reporter Tracy Johnke."
" Probably the further increase in the other rate of belief and I'd worked 96. And other large drop in nonfarm employment. How large of a -- and -- and we're probably. He drops in the neighborhood of 300000. That these extra fifty."
" We'll also get a look this weekend how cash for clunkers impacted new car sales. That you're says August sales will be strong reaching an annual rate of more than sixteen million. But the auto market and the economy will pay the price later."
" A number of the folks that treated in poker. Probably did not have our payment and they'll do. " Other government reports this week include construction spending and productivity. And the nation's purchasing managers will have their monthly reports on manufacturing and services. Adrian."
" Thanks Larry apparently women are more worried about the economy and that's holding down Consumer Spending. Let's join our big spenders John word -- and -- for the bottom line on this story."
" Your feeling about the economy could depend on your gender and at least that's what a new survey finds apparently women are gloomier about the economy. And prospects for an economic recovery then men and let's bring in our consumer race and -- to talk about this news survey so and what is this all about and what does this mean for consumers spending and shopping trends and other things."
" Well basically it means that that people the government marketers surveyed they've got to get women basically in a better mood in in the mood to spend before. We're gonna see any significant recovery in the economy."
" Then so that means a lot that that we have to. Make sure women feel better term and take their happy pills or -- make someone feel better about the economy."
" Well not in 80% of them are 80% of the spending and a household is controlled by women typically the guy's only handle I don't know. But it's it's the reality and studies have shown that women basically handled the household finances. And they're worried and even though unemployment is lower for women is for man. The whoever the chief breadwinner as may be concerned about their job or maybe -- getter rays this year maybe they didn't get a bonus or needed some cases that they are out of work so women. Have got to make careful decisions are making careful decisions about what they're spending money on and that means marketers have got to emphasize that. In bear advertising and that bodes ill for. The idea of a recovery. It doesn't elegant as seventy get people and women in particular spending again there's really not going to be much of a recovery. So experts that tell advertising age that what. Marketers have to do is emphasize the value of their product that their product it is important household but it's not some thing. That's really your fun or whatever that is an actually adds value to the household it's important for the family to have it."
" And it's interesting you mention the word value because he seemed to see that. In so many places within about cereal boxes or. When you walk through a store and you see added value or good value."
" Bright -- and that that's the buzzword these Susie if you do you see it on on TV commercials. And it's not even necessarily just discounters like Wal-Mart emphasised to -- a lot of retailers out there. I should mention grocery store chains they are all saying value value comes shop with us -- you get a better value. So it's a big word out there right now sounds as though what we're still going to have. Some problems with the economy for months to come. Yet because this this survey also found that over the next sixty days 55% of women say they're actually cutting back on their spending including household spending but only. Basically about a third of men have said that so that's why he focuses on women and trying to get them to spend."
" Best of luck. Good luck go out there and spend spend spend spend -- you know unlike past recoveries though which -- consumer driven this one may not be."
" That's that's what they've been saying so we will be -- to see how that turns out because until he does get consumers in general. Feeling more confident nobody really wants to spend their money now and you know something people out there should -- should night they showed that should write -- MarketWatch radio newsroom at --"
